2007 Reunion

Band Guide

The Othermothers were formed during 1977 in Greensboro, NC by brothers Al and Dan Cowett, Randall McCorquodale and Dan Rice.   Shortly thereafter Tommy Cowett replaced Dan Rice on Drums.

Randall went to ASU in 1979 and roomed with Steve (Ghengis) King (also later of The Opposition) who joined the band in short order.

By that time the band had been playing bars and clubs in the Triad and their punk/new wave sensibilities and hard rocking sound had earned them quite a few fans. While attending ASU the band continued to play in Boone as well as NC and eventually throughout the south and mid-Atlantic. The Othermothers released an EP (No Place Like Home, Making Waves, UK, Ltd., SPIN 303, 1985) which at one point listed #3 in the Melody Maker Indie charts, a single, (Party Topics/Travelinjg in Circles, Panda Records) and were included on Comboland, (Making Waves, UK, Ltd SPIN 209).

The Othermothers appeared in a BBC documentary detailing Comboland and the North Carolina music scene as well as on "The Old Grey Whistle Test".
