A breif history of
Trauma Center by Matt Mitchell
Toby Kienle and Matt Mitchell remained
close friends throughout the Model Testing scheme. The two still
shared an apartment and delved deeper into the nastier industrial
sound (SkinnyPuppy/Ministry) and terrifying noises (Psychick TV/Einsturzende
Neubauten).
Every Tuesday and Thursday they
would share a case of Glacier Bay and play around with sequenced
beats, warped movie dialogue and distorted guitar. With a few
compositions down, all they needed now was a frontman. Toby and
Matt tried to recruit Matt Bryan, but he rarely showed up for
practice. Toby then discovered Joe Kilminster in the art classes
of Wey Hall - all because he "looked cool". Joe developed
some lyrics to go with the gut-churning sound.
Trauma Center got their first and
only gig by a scam. Knowing that the APPS Council would never
understand the whole performance, TC submitted a lesser known
song from an underground industrial band, ran it through a distortion
pedal and pawned it off it as their own. The show consisted of
pieced together medical video, violent images, blood and rust.
The Pub never knew what hit it -and TC was banned from ever playing
there again.
